What exactly does 'Built to Code' mean?
What many retailers don't tell you is that all jetted bathtubs must be built and approved in accordance with CSA, ASME and ANSI engineering codes. Without this, you stand the risk of having your beautiful bathroom renovation rejected by the local building inspector.
Certification and factory inspection to ensure compliance with these codes is generally conducted by the Nationally Recognized laboratories of UL or ETL.
As an example of these specifications, the codes state that a double non-return, either by way of a loop or check valves must be placed between the air blower and the jets. Otherwise, the water that will inevitably find its way into the air jet tubes can reach the blower and cause issues.
To make sure you have a tub that is electrically safe and will pass inspection, make sure you buy one that is Built to Code and is UL Certified.
