Unsure about the right bathtub size for your height? This visual bathtub size guide lets you see how a person or mannequin fits inside our bathtub designs. It is useful to compare the examples because two tubs with the same overall length can have different amounts of usable interior space due to the shape of the bathing well, the slope of the backrest and the thickness of the tub walls.
What sizes do bathtubs come in? Bathtubs are available in a wide range of lengths, widths and depths. A common built-in alcove bathtub is about 60 inches long and 30 to 32 inches wide, while freestanding and soaking tub dimensions vary much more. The comparison chart below shows the actual overall measurements and available body-height examples for our tubs so you can compare individual designs rather than relying on exterior length alone.
The longest tub that fits your bathroom is not necessarily the most comfortable choice. If a tub is too long for the bather, their feet may not reach the opposite end in a comfortable position, making it harder to support the body while reclining. A shorter person may therefore be more comfortable in a smaller tub, while a taller person may benefit from a longer bathing well or a more upright backrest.
How to Read the Bathtub Size Examples
- In the primary examples, the person shown is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs approximately 150 pounds.
- Where a mannequin is shown, it represents a person approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 130 pounds.
- Some tubs also have images of a 5-foot-4-inch person, a 6-foot person or two people. These additional examples appear with the applicable tub when available.
- Use the chart to compare overall length, bathing depth, step-over height, width and gallons to overflow. Product specifications should always be reviewed before ordering.
