Shower ComparisonBaths of Distinction carries a number of showers from Old Forge Shower Company, a brief comparison of which is available here. The following information should help you to select the appropriate shower for your application.
Below is a reference drawing labeling the shower parts discussed in this document.
Royale (Non-thermostatic) Exposed Shower Line
The Royale exposed shower is our entry level model, combining the premium quality of Old Forge fixtures with the affordability of a non-thermostatic valve. This shower uses the same hotel quality valves as our Emperor T-valve shower and the same 7/8" OD riser and overhead rainfall shower head that come with both top of the line Emperor Showers. You can expect the same solid, hotel-quality product that you would normally receive, only without thermostatic control. We strongly recommend that this shower be used in conjunction with a widely available pressure-balance valve to eliminate the risk of accidental scalding.
It is important to note also that the appearance of the valve body on this shower is different than our Emperor line; detailed photographs of the valve body are available on the standard shower description page.
Emperor Thermostatic LineThe Emperor shower, available in two configurations, is our top of the line model, providing premium, hotel-grade hardware; a maximum flow rate of 11.5 GPM; a thermostatic anti-scald valve accurate to +- 1 degree centigrade; and an 8" overhead rainfall shower head. Our Emperor shower system also includes our 7/8" heavy duty riser and high quality, easy to use valves.
Our Emperor shower systems are based on our Emperor thermostatic valve body. Solidly constructed and weighing 8 pounds without attached hardware, this valve body's quality is complemented by it's bold appearance. This valve body is also available as a faucet, on the Baths of Distinction website.
Long Valve Emperor Exposed Shower (EM03-SHLP)
Our Emperor shower in regular configuration has the valve for the operation of the overhead shower mounted above the valve body, while the valve for the operation of the handheld is mounted below the valve body. This provides a slender appearance and is best suited to wall mounted applications. This configuration cannot be tub mounted to any Baths of Distinction tub due to the position of the handheld valve.
T-Valve Emperor Exposed Shower (EM03-SHTP)
Our Emperor shower in T-valve configuration has all of the valves mounted above the faucet body, with the overhead valve directly above the valve body and a T shaped assembly positioning the handheld valve to the right or left of the riser. The bottom of the valve body receives an end cap in the same finish as the rest of the shower. This configuration can be wall mounted, or tub mounted, and can be assembled with a tub filling spout below the valve body if desired.
FinishesEmperor Thermostatic Exposed Showers are available in three finishes.
Handle OptionsVarious handle options are available for our Emperor shower. These are available at no extra cost.
Cross handles and Lever handles apply only to the valves on the shower, all Emperor showers include a cross temperature control handle on the valve body.
